A New Kind of Friend

Everyone likes to make new friends. But how would you like to make a new kind of friend. Friends are those who like being around us, like us for who we are, and share common interests.

Peer coaching is a special kind of friendship because the interest we share is personal growth.

And, peer coaching provides something more than a typical friendship. It provides a structure that encourages personal and spiritual growth.

The Coaching Approach

Peer coaching revolutionizes the way you do growth-centered relationships because it’s a different approach.

Often relationships that encourage growth are with mentors, counselors, or people who disciple us. They all provide wise counsel and insight into our lives, suggesting how we can change. Many friendships with peers (someone like us in age, interests, etc) are similar. They become a a one-way street where one person is the teacher and the other is the student.

Instead of depending on advice-giving, the coaching approach uses intuitive listening and powerful questions to draw others into a conversation with God.

When you decide something in your life needs to change, a peer coach encourages you to take responsibility for your situation or goals, look to God for insight, and then take action. We help each other grow and still function as peers, with no advice-giving.

Commit to Growth

Ask yourself: what if you decided to commit to a growth group to learn how to coach effectively? AND, you chose a peer partner from that group that helped you decide on a personal growth goal, plus an action step, to move forward each week? Would you accomplish more and grow deeper with God if someone committed to cheering you on each week?

If you say “yes,” your commitment is an excellent recipe for transformation! This is a perfect time to begin.

Peer Training Course

The Peer Coach Training Course includes one 4-hour Saturday workshop and 5 weeks of 1-hour high-impact teachings, live demonstrations, discussion and practice of key peer coaching skills, all online via Zoom.

You’ll learn how to:

  • ask powerful coaching questions,
  • develop action steps that actually get done, and
  • provide healthy accountability that offers grace but isn’t rigid.

Peer Coach training is much more than just sitting and listening to a lecturer! Every weekly teaching includes coaching video demonstrations that show you how these skills works in real life. Everyone gets involved in this fun, interactive process.

All video sessions include unrehearsed coaching demos where the skills you are being taught are demonstrated in real life by Master Coach Tony Stoltzfus, the creator of the training. Karen Lusby, a Certified Christian Life and Encounter Coach, facilitates the course using Tony’s workbook and videos.

This is your opportunity to bring more value to all your small groups and accountability relationships. Accomplish more in less time with focused encouragement from your peer partner. Or, if you are frustrated with your lack of progress, discover what beliefs are holding you back from God’s best for your life. We accomplish so much more in community.

Next Course begins in Winter 2023
