Do you have a passion to transform your community, your state, and our nation?

Do you want to see God move mightily and see His purposes accomplished?

Is your heart stirring? Do you believe that God is calling you into a new stage in your life…one that takes you deeper into relationship with Him?

When I first experienced that stirring, I was in a citywide worship and prayer service. I heard two African Pastors crying out to God. I knew immediately that I wanted what they had – an intimate, but bold relationship with God. A relationship so intimate that they heard from Him and responded with confidence, calling out in prayer to transform our community. They demonstrated to me that there was so much more to prayer than I knew.

Is this you, too? You love God and you are pursuing Him, but you know that there is more.

Although God calls us each of us into prayer, you may feel a deeper burden for your community than others. God may be calling you into intercession…to hear what is on His heart and to stand in the gap on behalf of others, including your community.

God tells us in 2 Chronicles 7:14:

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.

According to Isaiah 58, if we pray, fast and help meet the needs of those around us, God promises:

Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind. Then when you call, the Lord will answer. ‘’Yes, I am here,” he will quickly reply. (Is 58: 8-9)

The Lord will guide you continually giving you water when you are dry
and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls
and a restorer of homes. (Is 58:10-11)

Prayer is key to transforming our cities! God promises to not only ensure that we are a well-watered spring, but that our cities are saved and rebuilt through us when we seek Him.

It is so true… I have seen the results of fervent prayer and action in cities like Golden, Colorado. But, that is a story for another time!

How do we effectively cover our cities in prayer?

First, if God is stirring in your heart about your city, respond by committing to learn more about prayer.

Secondly, commit to finding a corporate prayer group that is seeking God on behalf of their community.

One approach to praying over your community, city or state is known as 1Church1Day.

1 church 1 day

What is 1Church1Day?

31 Praying churches Plugged into God

A key component of 1Church1Day is mobilizing 31 churches or ministries that commit to praying one day per month for a 24-hour period. With 31 churches committing to just one 24-hour period each month of the year, prayer can cover a region 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Such earnest and dedicated prayer can attract God’s presence to a community!

Here’s the beauty of this approach. Each church can structure the prayer during their 24-hour period in a manner and style that is most comfortable for them. People can commit to pray:

  • individually or together for short or long periods of time
  • at home, church, or any other location
  • from the Word, a prayer book, in worship, or however God so leads.

There is complete freedom for each church body to fully express their style of prayer and worship, and accomplish great unity through prayer in the body. Simple prayer tools are also available for interested churches.

Prayer Coordinators Track Prayer Requests and Results

Each church or ministry identifies one Prayer Coordinator that is trained and commissioned to manage the 24-hour prayer period.

This designated individual works with the church leadership team to identify, encourage, and equip people to pray. They also provide prayer requests to the prayer team and collect praise reports following the 24-hour period of prayer.

All this information is shared with the church leadership team, and with the Regional Prayer Coordinator who consolidates the prayer requests and results from all 31 churches. This compiled report is shared with all 31 churches.

 Strategic Councils

As churches commit to pray, godly men and women of influence gather together in strategic councils to seek God’s wisdom on behalf of their community or region. These councils are often formed around seven spheres of society that include:

  • Government
  • Business
  • Education
  • Media/Arts
  • Healthcare
  • Family
  • Church

The purpose of these councils is to discern key prayer points regarding their sphere and provide it to the praying churches. This establishes a flow of spiritual intelligence to and from the prayer warriors in the local church.

   Communication

Communication between the prayer warriors at each church and the councils is so incredibly important! It is a means of sharing testimonies and seeing how God is moving through the unified and 24/7 prayers of the body of Christ. Without communication, people of prayer can become isolated and discouraged. Faith builds amongst those who share and those who receive testimonies of all that God is doing through prayer. Increased faith attracts God’s presence.

Communication is established by the Regional Prayer Coordinator with each church prayer coordinator. Monthly praise reports that highlight answers to prayer are shared with every church. As the councils are formed, prayer points are provided from the councils to each church.
